Amigo upon arrival

Amigo is a 25-year-old American Quarter Horse that was relinquished to the Horse Protection Society in 2006.  We received a call about Amigo from a concerned individual and investigated.  The owner claimed that Amigo was just old and depressed about being alone and had just lost weight.  Eventually, HPS succeded in getting the owner to relinquish Amigo into our care.

Amigo after one month

Amigo has gained several hundred pounds since arriving at the sanctuary and has fully recovered.  He is always the first in his stall at breakfast and dinner.  Because he was starved, he can be very protective of his food around other horses.  He has wonderful ground manners and stands quietly for the farrier.  He is currently available to a good home.
