HOW CAN YOU HELP THE HORSES?

As you are no doubt aware, many horses die needlessly each year.  Your willingness to consider choosing a rescued horse as your equine companion indicates that you are a caring individual that wants to help make the world a better place for horses as well as human beings. The magnitude of the unwanted horse problem here in the US is unthinkable and continues to grow each year.  We are contacted weekly, sometimes even daily, by people reporting equines in potential neglect or abuse situations; luckily, upon investigation, many of these individuals can be helped and we do not need to bring their horse to the sanctuary.  Even still, we are often at capacity, especially during the winter months, and sometimes unable to take in horses who are truly in need.  By taking part in our placement program you will not only enjoy the incredible benefits of having a rescue horse in your life but you will also be opening up a stall for a horse in need.

The number one benefit of our placement program is that both you and the horse will always remain a part of our family.  One of the largest contributors to the unwanted horse population is that many people do not understand even the short term commitments of caring for a horse and least of all the long term commitments.  Many of our horses live into their late thirties or even forties!  If your life should change and you are no longer able to provide the necessary care for the horse that has been placed with you we will gladly take them back, no questions asked, though we do hope to be able to work with you to help find a solution so that you may keep them if so desired.
